Pure Essential oil
Lavandin grosso
Botanical Name: Lavendin super
Method of Extraction: Steam
Lavendin is a hybrid lavender from which the flowers, leaves and stem are
steam distilled. Its main country of origin is France. Some of the chemical
components are borneol, camphor, cineol, and geraniol. This plant is the
product of cross-pollination of true lavender with spike lavender by
pollinating bees! The bushes of this genus of lavender have larger deeper
blue flowers that yield a larger amount of oil than true lavender. It is of
importance to note that Lavendin should not be confused with lavender, as
each oil has differing characteristics.
Lavendin is not as sedating as true lavender. This would make it good to use
during the day where you may have used lavender but didn't want the sedating
action. It is a great oil to use for inhalation (steam) when you have a
cold, sinusitis or any other respiratory condition. Because of its
rubefacient and analgesic properties, Lavendin can also be very helpful for
relieving muscular pain and stiffness, as well as headaches. Because of its
camphor content, this lavender is NOT to be used on burns. Blends well with
clove, bay, cinnamon, citronella, cypress, geranium, patchouli, pine and
thyme. |
