Hot
glue or dip wick in gel to set to bottom of your container.
If wicks are wax coated, dip in hot gel before setting in container.
This
reduces the amount of bubbles from the wick. It is better to use
un
waxed wicks like the ones we supply especially for gel candles.
The
wick size should be in accordance to the size of the opening of
the
container you are using. For
example if you are using a 2-3 inch
width
container then We suggest you try our
small wicks these wicks
have
a melt pool of 3 1/4 inches. If
you are using other suppliers gel that is
extra
thick, (gelly) then We have found the melt
pool is quite a bit smaller
and
burn time is faster. You may want to use a larger size wick.
See
our wicks for specks. on wick sizes.
Medium wick in our gel has a melt pool
(Amount
of gel that burns around the wick)
of
3 to 4 1/2 inches. The large wick has a melt pool of 4 to 5 1/2
inches.
It
is best if you are using a container larger than that to use 2 to 3
wicks
placed
evenly spaced in the candle.
Be careful when doing so not to get
the
wick too close to the edge of the container which will cause heat
damage
and
breakage. When using several wicks you may have to experiment
with
the
wick sizes. Remember always trim your wick
to 1/4 of an inch for
better
burn time and to prevent mushrooming and black residue
in the
bottom
of your candle. Always use a wick with a stem due to the fact
that
gel burns completely leaving no residue and the heat from the
flame
on a flat tabbed wick will break
the container. Our wicks are especially
designed
for gel candles and the stem
will put the flame out before
it
reaches the bottom of the container and causes breakage.
